Ironwood Stick - PREORDER
The Ironwood Stick, also known as “The Ironstick”, is a complete starter kit for the aspiring forester, capable of performing all of the measuring tasks needed to practice professional forestry at the entry level.
An evolution of the classic “Biltmore” stick developed by Carl A. Schenck in the late 1890’s, this tool has been reimagined for modern needs and focuses on ease of use for new and seasoned professionals.
The length of each tool is the same as the distance the user will hold from self, allowing quick and precise measurements. One corner is beveled to serve as a tactile indicator of which side is being held.
In addition to measuring diameter at breast height (DBH), linear distance, and height, the “Ironstick” also can measure basal area in multiple factors. Each tool has an embedded compass for basic land navigation.
In addition to written and illustrated instructions engraved on the tool itself, a QR code is featured on each tool, which will soon lead to educational material to guide the user on their journey into the forestry profession.
Available in full size (24” or 60cm) and youth size (18” or 45cm). Each tool is made from kiln dried poplar with laser engraved graphics and finished two coats of clear water based polycrylic.
This listing is for PREORDERS, and items will not be shipped immediately even if the website generates a tracking code. We are fully engaged in making the next batch of tools and expect to be able to fill preorders in 3-8 weeks.
